A few simple tips for a smooth visit
- Book ahead, allow 2–3 hoursAll visits are by appointment. The tests take time to do well.
- Rest well the night beforeThe visual field test needs your full attention.
- Keep using your eye dropsContinue as usual unless your doctor says otherwise, and bring them along.
- Bring your reportsPast eye reports, and a list of all your medicines, including any steroids or inhalers.
- Bring your glassesIf you wear contact lenses, bring your glasses and lens case too.
- Come with someoneIf your eyes are dilated, your vision may be blurry for a few hours. Don’t drive back.

Will I get my results the same day?
Yes. You leave with a clear answer: glaucoma ruled out, glaucoma suspect with a monitoring plan, or glaucoma detected with a treatment plan.
What if my visual field test result isn’t reliable?
It’s normal to miss some lights, especially the first time. If the result isn’t reliable, you get one free repeat of the visual field test within 30 days.
Do glaucoma tests hurt?
No. The tests are painless, start to finish. Numbing drops are used for any test that touches the eye, such as gonioscopy.
Should I stop my eye drops before the evaluation?
No. Keep using your eye drops as usual unless your doctor says otherwise, and bring them with you.
