Child Vision & Myopia Risk Check: common questions
Why does my child need eye drops for this check?
Children’s eyes can focus very strongly, which hides their true glasses power. Cycloplegic drops relax that focusing for a short while, so the power we measure is accurate.
Will my child’s vision be blurry afterwards?
Yes, for a while. The drops blur near vision for 6–24 hours, so avoid booking the check the day before a school exam.
What is axial length, and why measure it?
Axial length is the length of the eye from front to back. In myopia the eye grows too long, so measuring it is the most reliable way to see whether myopia is starting or getting worse.
Can I bring more than one child?
Yes. A parent or guardian must come with the children, and there is ₹200 off for each additional child checked in the same visit.
